Their rivalry starts with the death of Julia, the beloved wife of Robert Angier. She dies during a stage performance and Robert blames Alfred for her death. The film stars Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale. Imdb rated the movie as 8.4 on 10 and critics on Rotten Tomatoes rated it as 7.1 on 10.

In such times of despair and grief, she is the only hope of survival. A former activist decides to take care of her. He travels along with the mother and child and takes them to a Human Project across the seas. Their journey is a constant fight for survival. The movie is rated as 8.1/10 on Imdb and 8/10 by critics on Rotten Tomatoes.

13. Avatar (2009)



Released in 2009, Avatar became one of the 15 best movies of the decade. It is a science fiction, written and directed by James Cameron. The movie features Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Stephen Lang, Michelle Rodriguez, Sigourney Weaver, and Joel David Moore. The movie took more than 1.5 decades to complete as the scriptment of the film was written in 1994. This is the first part of the trilogy. The movie is based in the year 2054. The story begins with the desire to mine a valuable stone, unobtanium from an earth like moon known as Pandora, in the Alpha Centauri star system. This project brings threat to the peaceful lives of 10 feet tall inhabitants of the planet. The death of the twin brother of Sam Worthington makes him a part of this project. He is a paraplegic former Marine. He falls in love with Neytiri (Zoe Saldana) and helps her protect her planet. The movie is marvelously directed and got an excellent response. It is rated as 8.3/10 on Imdb and 7.5/10 on Rotten Tomatoes

The story is about Hiccup, an energetic and young viking who in his hunt for dragons develops bonding with a dragon. He would have to kill the dragon to find acceptance in his tribe as a dragon slayer. But he loses the desire to kill the creature after capturing a dragon. He starts training the dragon. In his efforts to train the dragon he discovers the loyal and beautiful nature of the animal and befriends him. He reaches a conclusion that people misjudge and mistreat the specie. The movie is based on his efforts to protect the species and to eradicate and uproot the ignorant and cruel customs endangering the specie. The movie got positive reception. It got a rating of 8.2/10 on Imdb and 7.9/10 on Rotten Tomatoes.

11. Up (2009)



Up is a beautifully conceived animated film, produced by Pixar Animation Studios. The film brings comedy and adventure to the audience. It is based on the sweet and innocent desires of a 78 years old man. The old man had a lifelong desire to explore the wilds of South America. To fulfill his desire, he ties thousands of helium balloons to his house and sets out on an adventurous  journey. The movie was positively acclaimed by the critics as well as the audience. It got 8.4/10 on Imdb and 8.6/10 on Rotten tomatoes. Most of the audience gave it a rating of 3.5/5.

It is a psychological thriller film, released in the start of the decade. Placed at number 9, the movie is highly acclaimed movie even after 10 years. It is written and directed by the famous director Christopher Nolan. The movie is about a man with a short term memory loss. He is suffering from anterograde amnesia and couldn’t store new memories. He is on a hunt to find the killers of his wife. The man tattoos his entire body and takes notes and pictures of everything. Imdb rated the movie as 8.7/10 and the audience gave it a rating of 4 on 5. Rotten tomatoes rates the movie as 8.1/10.

The movie is based on the story of a couple who wants to erase the memories of their relationship after it turns sour. Joel Barish is heartbroken when he find out that his girlfriend underwent a procedure to erase his memories from her mind. He decides to do the same. As the memories of his girlfriend started to fade from his mind, he discovered that he still loved her and didn’t want to erase these beautiful memories of their relationship. The movie has an incomplete ending and the director left it on audience to decide the fate of the couple. The movie was a success commercially and was positively received by the critics. Many critics declared it as the best movie of the decade. Imdb gave it a rating of 8.5/10 and Rotten tomatoes rated it as 8.3/10.

This American crime-thriller from Hollywood is directed by Joel and Ethan Coen. The film is about a hunter who finds a fortune that is not his. The hunter came across some dead bodies, some heroin and more than $2 million in cash near the Rio Grande. The drug runners had killed each other in an exchange. He decides to disappear with the money. But he didn’t know that this money will bring with it violence and mayhem. A psychopathic killer, Anton Chigurh, sets out on his trail to find and kill him to get the money. The title of the film is taken from the opening line of the poem “Sailing to Byzantium” written by 20th-century Irish poet and dramatist William Butler Yeats. The movie got a marvelous reception. Critics declared the movie a must watch. Imdb rated it as 8.3/10 and Rotten tomatoes gave it a deserving rating of 8.5/10.

It is a sensitive movie taking audience to the future and conveying message in the disguise of a story. The movie is set in a robotic era when earth is covered with waste. The land is polluted and lacks greenery and life of any sort. The temperature of earth makes survival impossible. Wall- E is a robot designed to clean up the waste on earth while people are forced to live in a spaceship due to their own wrong doings. Wall-E is alone on Earth except for a sprightly pet cockroach. One day, Eve, a sleek (and dangerous) reconnaissance robot, is sent to Earth to find proof that life is once again sustainable. Wall-E falls in love with Eve. The movie is the best animated film ever in terms of story. It received applause from critics. Imdb rated the movie 8.5/10 whereas Rotten tomatoes rated it 8.4/10.

Lieutenant Jim Gordon and District Attorney Harvey Dent help Batman in his endeavor.  In an interview Nolan told that he got inspiration for the film from Joker’s comic book debut in 1940, and the 1996 series “The Long Halloween”. The movie was received with applause by the audience and most of the critics including the critics of Imdb and Rotten Tomatoes. Imdb rated the movie 8.9/10 and Rotten Tomatoes rated it 8.4/10. Mostly audience gave it a deserving rating of 4.5/5.0.

This wonderful animated film stands as the best film of the decade. It is the third and final film in the Toy Story Series. Andy, the kid from the first and second part has grown up and is about to leave for college. He still loves his toys despite the fact that he no more plays with them. The toys mistakenly got delivered to a day care center instead of the attic before Andy leaves for college. They are not treated nicely at he day care center. Babys lick them and hold them in their dirty hands. Barbie’s counterpart Ken, a thespian hedgehog named Mr. Pricklepants and a pink, strawberry-scented teddy bear called Lots-o’-Huggin’ Bear plan their great escape. The movie had a marvelous reception and brought tears in the eyes of critics. It was highly acclaimed by famous critics. 99% critics on Rotten Tomatoes gave it positive rating, giving it an over all rating of 8.8/10. Critics on Imdb gave it a rating of 8.8/10. It was rated as 4.3/5.0 by most of the audience.
